Skilled Tile Setter

As a Skilled Tile Setter at Esox Custom Tiling, you will lead the installation process for our most detailed residential projects. We are looking for a true craftsman who understands that the “magic” of a great tile job happens in the prep and the layout. You will work in a respectful, small-team environment where you have the autonomy to use your expertise to solve site challenges and deliver a flawless finished product.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advanced Layout & Design: Planning and executing complex layouts for custom showers, backsplashes, and large-format flooring to ensure perfect symmetry and minimal waste.
  • Precision Fabrication: Expertly operating wet saws, grinders, and manual cutters to perform intricate miters, niche cuts, and clean finishes.
  • Substrate Mastery: Evaluating and preparing surfaces, including the installation of professional waterproofing systems (like Schluter-Kerdi) and leveling compounds to ensure a lifetime of durability.
  • Quality Management: Overseeing the project from start to finish—including proper thin-set selection, trowel techniques, and grout application—ensuring every detail meets the ”Esox Standard”.
  • Professional Communication: Acting as a lead on-site, maintaining a clean workspace, and communicating effectively with the homeowner and the team.

Basic Requirements

  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
  • Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on your feet comfortably.

General Laborer

As a General Laborer at Esox Custom Tiling, you are the engine that keeps our custom projects running smoothly. We are looking for a teammate who is eager to work, takes pride in a clean jobsite, and wants to learn the specialized skills of high-end tiling from the ground up. This isn’t just a “helper” job; it’s a hands-on apprenticeship where you’ll gain the experience needed to eventually lead your own projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Professional Jobsite Support: Setting up floor protection, staging materials, and keeping the workspace organized and safe throughout the day.
  • Precision Prep Work: Assisting with tear-outs, surface cleaning, and mixing thin-set and grout to the exact specifications required for each unique material.
  • Technical Assistance: Working alongside the Lead Setter to help with measurements, substrate installation, and the application of waterproofing systems.
  • The Finishing Touches: Mastering the art of grouting and deep-cleaning tile surfaces to ensure the final product looks flawless for the homeowner.
  • Tool & Material Management: Responsible for the daily cleaning and maintenance of professional tiling tools and ensuring inventory is ready for the next day’s work.
